I want to buy a Volkswagen Jetta that had its engine swapped to a 2.0 turbo from a Volkswagen. It's this a good buy? The guy changed the turbo to a performance and has a stainless steel exhaust.
umm, did you trade the computers too? I sense great complications in doin' this~ stainless is always preferred...Turbo's have many revolutions and for the amount of extra "kick" is really not worth the risk vs. reliability~ just repair the bad engine...is my advise~
I would suggest that you take it to a shop that does used car checks and have it looked at, this is money well spent, and if they do find something out of sorts then you have a bargaining chip on discussing the price if you still want the vehicle. HTH
I'm not sure about the computer. And I'm buying it from a mechanic. How do I go about getting another to look at it?
Find a shop that does those, then just tell him you would like to have someone else look it over, if he has nothing to hide then it should be fine with him.
