Why would the window on a 1999 VW Cabrio only partly go up?

As a guess, the window regulator assembly is messed up

most commanly in these older cars is the motor is burnt out. you can get one out of a scrap car or go to a online parts shop and buy it new. your other option is the dealer but will probly cost a small fortune.

*aka this motor unit comes as a prebuilt assembly ONLY so it comes with the glass holder arms and all.
