Is there a relay for power windows on a 96 vw cabrio?

The same thing just happened with my 1996 VW Cabrio and I was told by a couple of people I need to replace the window regulators. So far the cheapest new regulator I found for this car is for $250. I was told not to buy this regulator used because they go bad alot. Even the used ones are a pretty penny. Hope this helps you.
