96 dodge ram 2500 overheating, loud noise

I have a 96 dodge ram 2500 V10 overheated and
while trouble shooting this began to makes loud
ticking noise like a lose chain when I press on the
gas pedal still overheating sound getting worse.
Any suggestions on where to start?

First thing I'd suspect is the water pump. The impeller could be loose on the shaft inside the pump and not spinning correctly to pump the coolant through the cooling system. Hope that helps! Jim
