My 01 tracker (automatic) starts red lining whenever its going about 35mph to 55mph do I need a new trans mission ?

Are there any codes present? Is you check engine light on? Definitely a transmission problem. Valve body/solenoid issue, vacuum, throttle position sensor?

I agree sounds like it's not shifting into higher gears as it needs to.
