Transfercase stays locked in

I have 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport 5.9L. The
transfercase stays locked in 4wd even when the
truck is in 2wd, while the front end is not locked in
but everything works fine while in 4wd. I've
changed out the transfercase switch and it is still
do io ng the same thing. Any ideas?
