How do I get my security alarm to work on my 2004 impala?
It seems like the alarm doesn't work-I've tried unlocking if from inside& Radar where I got
the car tried it that way & it wouldn't still go off. Only thing my key thing does is
lock/unlock the doors & the lights flash.
When you lock the car with the key fob the alarm is set. When you lock the car manually or with the power lock switch on the door panel, inside the car, it's not. HTH. -Jim
Hi Jim, I've done that .. Today I went to the dealership can you believe one of the guys who work there messed w/it for about 20mins and he didn't figure it out. I was kinda pissed off.. He didn't even offer/think to go see if someone else cld figure it out. So how can you tell its on.. If you lift the handles up? I've done everything you cld think of.. I guess I'll never be able to use it. Thank you for your response.
To test the system, put the driver's window down. Step out of the car and close the door. Lock the car with the key fob. Wait at least 30 seconds. Now reach in and unlock the door with the manual lock lever. The alarm should go off. If it doesn't, go into the radio's menu. Scroll through and find "settings". The previous owner may have shut off the alarm. It will be extremely helpful to have the owner's manual for step by step instructions on this. I'm actually speaking from memory about my Niece's '05 Impala. The radio is where you'll find all sorts of personalized settings for lights, alarm, etc. HTH. -Jim
What if you don't have the key fob? What are your options?
