is it an involved and expensive procedure to have the shift solenoid replaced in a 2002 RAV 4?
My transmission is slipping in the lower gears. Does fine once it gets going.
Was put on a coding machine and it came up a shift solenoid problem. I love
my RAV 4. In 14 years this is the first problem I have had and it has 210,000
Any transmission work is expensive but if it is just the solenoids then it is a lot cheaper that replacing the transmission, and that is what will happen if it isn't fixed very quickly, the last estimate I was given on a GM was right at 400 bucks, so I hope this will give you a Idea on where it might start out at. With that kind of mileage it is hard to say what they might find once the pan is removed, if they find shiny brass particulates in the pan it indicates problems ahead. HTH
I suggest you.....Replace the transmission with a LOW mileage "salvage" trans less costly and better than 80% of the shops rebuilding them! 210,000 miles. GAME OVER for automatics! Regards
