Power problems

Asked by Rock Mar 09, 2017 at 06:12 PM about the 1994 Toyota Pickup 2 Dr DX 4WD Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I have a 1994 Toyota pickup that gives some
strange symptoms to the electrical system. It had
previously behaved as though the battery was shot,
so today I dropped a new battery in the truck.
However, it will not start and is worse than before.
As of now I get power to a select few devices(horn
works, headlights work, dome light works, door
buzzer works), but none of the others(radio won't
work, brake lights do not work, starter won't turn at
all). I had read before that the fusable link might
have gone out, but that would interrupt power flow
to the whole truck, not just half of it. Am I missing
something simple here?

Yes the link will cut the whole car off, try adding two new grounds, use very thick copper wire, one from the battery to the engine and another from the battery to the body.

I have the same issue, head lights and horn work. Radio does not. Will not crank at all. Strong battery. I connected ground from battery to body, battery to frame. Still the same. My issue started when replacing alternator. I forgot to remove ground from battery and accidentally arced from positive connection on alternator to metal bracket. Any suggestions?
