Any recalls on the 2003?

Asked by Oct 06, 2010 at 04:20 PM about the 2003 Toyota Matrix XR

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought it Canada, and while loading the car up, I had the door open for a couple hours while loading. Wouldn't tested batt...bought a new one. The other day, a friend was cleaning the inside for me, and voila...WILL NOT START. Charged the battery, and still nothing...all the lights and radio work fine, but will not something online about the drl relay.  Thanks...Sabrina

I shall answer my own question! As I was thinking about the situation and what was going on with the vehicle prior to it not starting, a light went off in my head. When the floor mat was put back in, it was up too high; therefore, the clutch was not depressing the neutral safety switch, clutch sensor or whatever you call it. I slid the matt down, and she now purrs like a kitten!

No rcalls, I have 300,000km on mine, everything still works great!

There was a recall on 2003 2004 cars in Canada for faulty window bolts in the front doors on power window cars . There was an ECM recall on 2005-2007 cars.

I was issued a recall for mine dealing with the airbag computer needing a power filter. Apparently after-market "electronics" causing dirty power, MIGHT cause the airbags to deploy.

Lmao@Jashua...I received that recall for airbag as well 4 years after my baby was totalled. Made me laugh just thinking about that scenario! There is one TSB (not quite recall status) that pertains to the grey plastic cladding if you've got a two- toned vibe. The way the sideskirts and fenders were made caused rocks and road debris to fly up and tear up the plastic under the sides and on the wheel well cladding attached to rear doors. They will replace the grey plastic and upgrade the sideskirts to the IMO better looking flared outward sideskirts found on later two-toned models for free. May take a bit of searching on dealer's part and patience on your part as it was not a well known TSB.
