91 Landcruiser timing

Asked by May 11, 2010 at 03:48 PM about the 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The Landcruiser I just bought failed the CA smog test today for several reasons. Although the emissions were ok, it failed because of old gas cap, no "check engine" light, and no way to check the timing. Isn't there a plate with a pointer like on most cars? The mechanic mentioned the marker may have been forgotten if the engine had been rebuilt. Whatever the case is, I can't find any info about timing it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Theres a window on the transmission and marks in the fly wheel. My lancruiser manual explains it in detail. Feel free to call me 916 910 8196.
