smelled gas. So I stuck my finger in it and
smelled it, my old oil smelled like gas. Put new
oil in, checked it today still smells like gas.
Soooooooo I was wondering why does my oil

The only way I know of gas getting in to crankcase is an injector stuck open.Your Corolla has MPFI The engine may even run well, but when shut off gas gets in to the cylinder, until fuel pressure drops and seeps past the rings...maybe not much but after a few dozen cycles of this can introduce gas in crankcase. Before 1985 or so when cars had carburetors and mechanical fuel pumps this would be easy. With MPFI not so much
