What is wrong with my car?

Asked by Cassandra Feb 13, 2021 at 07:24 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 05 chevy cobalt 2.2 ecotec. I've changed the
spark plugs, cleaned throttle body, checked all
relays & fuses. It starts & runs but for some reason
when driving down the road, it has barely any
acceleration. I have to hold the gas pedal to the
floor for it to go. The motor jerks & sounds like it
ain't wanting to stay running. What could be the
problem?

Have you scanned it for trouble codes and checked your fuel pressure? Wouldn't hurt to load test the battery too. Modern electrical systems are pretty sensitive and a weak battery can make a car do weird things.

is there a fuel filter? if yes, change it and see if it improves. fuel pressure seems weak.

I do't believe that car has a serviceable fuel filter. I think it is intergral with the fuel pump inside the fuel tank.
