If you were sold the wrong alternator take it back and exchange it for the correct one! Hope that helps! Jim

It Is the same alternator, With a different shaped regulator plug. Its from a different Toyota model with a similar sized engine from the scrapyard. The bolts line up, it is mounted similarly It just has a different 3 prong main wire harness. I'm not a automotive technician, I'm self taught and lack have funds currently to pay a mechanic that is why i asked the question in hopes of some professional insight. Obviously Taking it to a professional would be a better option. I appreciate your reply, my question is can it be done assuming bolts, volts and everything else fits correctly on my car.( as well as no errors in my own wiring ofc ) since The wire harness only has 3 wires that feed into the plug and the fourth has a boot in it on my currently installed plug cause its not in use and only 3 posts being required. and then if not why is that? what would/could go wrong if i changed the plug to fit my new alternator. reference: It's a DENSO 12v Toyota 27060 photo of plug shape. the one on my car is a square 4 prong i believe. Thanks for any info!

No, that's the wrong alternator. Looks like it's for a 2004 model. Go to Rockauto.com and you can see pictures of the alternator for your vehicle and the '04 model. The plug is different for a reason. Cutting the plug from your wiring harness and splicing a different one on will only cause problems and wind up being more expensive in the end. Go back to the salvage yard with your old one and tell them that's what you need. Point out the different plug. Jim
