Can a bad oil pressure switch keep the engine from starting??

Asked by Nov 21, 2013 at 11:57 AM about the 1994 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

94 toyota camry 2.2l 4 cyl, automatic. No start, fuel pump works, distributor as with wires and plugs have been replaced.

1 Answer

No...but a corroded main ground connection to an OLD battery can...1994 running with an eleven year old battery...wirebrush the main ground connecton to the battery and to the engine block...if still suffering from an undervoltage condition would suggest that an ignition relay hasn't the voltage to hold the contacts closed~....that's kinda a neat idea that oil pressure could shut things down~....but not gonna happen that way~
