So many possibilities. You drained and replaced 3.5qts ATF? Ok. Any CELs for misfires? This is important, as ignition wires short and coilpacks fail. MAF sensor connector clean, with no air leaks between it and throttle body? RSVP. Ern

I don't know some of those answers. I bought the car in Maine and it has a hundred and sixty-eight thousand miles on it but I can tell you it was knocking before the mechanic change the oil and the filter so those two things are clean. probably had the same oil in a car was born with.

Offhand, I don't know what a CEL is. I didn't mean knocking I met lurching. But I don't think they're knocking at engine has anything unusual for this car.

Check Engine Light. I didn't mean "knocking" either. Misfires will throw a CEL and result in "lurching"...especially on cold or wet starts...as well will air leaks.

Bring it to Pete at Out of Town Motors in Ellsworth or Matt at Jim's Auto in wherever Maine and ask them if this dinosaur is worth investment. They're both outstanding Subie wrenches. Say hi to them for me. Ern
