Catalytic converters

Does a 2004 Subaru Legacy Gt have 2
catalytic converters? I know nothing about
cars and want to make sure my daughter isn’t
being taken advantage of. Mechanic says
can’t be sure which one is bad so they need
to replace both

That's baloney. Scan for codes to indicate which O2 sensor is being affected.
