Sound coming from the engine when revving

Asked by Mar 09, 2014 at 12:19 AM about the 1995 Subaru Legacy 4 Dr L AWD Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

95 Legacy 250t
Stock ej25d engine

There is a knocking/tapping sound coming from the engine when revving. The sound
only occurs between 1500-2000 rpms. Most noticeble when taking off.

This does not happen when first starting up and driving. only after 5-10 minutes of
driving when the engine is warmed up a bit.

Have it looked at. I'd only be guessing that it would be valve tap, or something internal to the engine, and exhaust leak, maybe trans? Hard to diagnose where I sit.
