06 Pontiac Grand Prix. Brakes

Asked by KF74 Mar 30, 2018 at 08:23 AM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 Grand Prix.  Changed brake
pads.  The wear was outside pad drivers
side no pad at all.  Passenger side outside
pad was almost a full pad. Changed brake
pads all the way around. Only 2 calipers
were engaging now. But I had some brakes.
Just tried to rebleed to tighten up. Now there
is no brake whatsoever. I need some help!

the caliper has to be freed up on it's mounting pins , they have to "float" so that they apply equal pressure on both sides , you'll have to set the pads if you opened up the caliper and there is a little play against the rotor ,when you bled the brakes you should press the peddle only a few inches if you bottom out the peddle it can wear the seal on the master , crack the bleeder put a hose running upward and push the peddle nice and easy a few inches repeat this and you should feel an improvement , the bleeders only have to be snug

The 2 calipers won't engage and have no fluid coming out of the bleeder pins. I had some brakes yesterday. Just tried rebooting last night. And now there is no brake whatsoever.
