Reprogram ignition switch

Asked by Guru94N39G Sep 18, 2020 at 01:13 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

05'grand Prix gt ignition switch bad. Battery, relays, starter checked. Key is
loose in ignition switch. Mechanic doesn't have computers to reprogram
switch? Locksmith? Dealership says $1,000 car worth $1,500. Any ideas of
what it should cost?

sounds like the dealer is the only game in town , maybe the old one can be used to signal the computer lying on the front seat or taped to the steering column ?

I think you answered your own question. The vehicle isn't worth putting $1,000 into so it's time to move on. Hope that helps! Jim
