I have a 2001 Grand Prix, I want to use the paper clip method to get the flash code, which two positions do you use in the socket
Your 2001 has OBDII with a DTC port (Diagnostic trouble code) port, is there a reason you don't want to use that?
Flash out codes on an OBD2 system is not really accurate, just go to an autozone or Similar part store they can test it for you and it's free.
With the price of OBD scanners less than $100, anyone with a 10 year old car should really have one along with a set of wrenches and screwdrivers!
You can't. Your 2001 model, as others have pointed out, is OBD II. The paper clip method only works on OBD I (1982 thru '95 models) systems. Most auto parts stores will scan the computer for free. HTH. -Jim
