Dash and HVAC Display not working

Hello,r
l have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8. The other
night I was driving and all of a sudden I smelled
something funny then the backlight for the gauges
and display for the HVAC went out. The HVAC
works you just don't have any l display. I checked
the fuses with a tester, well 2 out of 3 boxes .(I
wasn't aware there was 3)and they were lighting
upm hi.Besiides checking the other box any other
suggestions?

I would look for a short or other defect on the circuit board that feeds those lamps. The smell you noticed was probably a component on the board that had died.
