this is so that you cannot engage reverse while moving...so that you cannot take the key out unless the thing is in park...I personally would leave it disconnected...but that's just me~

it is probably a matter of re-connecting a connector that has been disconnected~(whoa)~

follow the wires coming off of the shift lock interface and plug them back in~
