I cannot get the cv axle out of the hub
assembly. Can i drive for under 24 hours
with just one?

Nope, if you have already taken one out the car will not move and besides if it did you would be blowing trans fluid everywhere and ruin the transmission.

What if i leave the other end in. Like a plug to prevent transmission fluid from leaking

The only way that would work is if you had a limit d slip differential and I don't believe they put those in a front wheel drive vehicle stock.
