Security system or starter

I have a Pontiac Grand am 2004 and my car won't
turn over my security light isn't flashing but I been
trying to reset it but it still not working I need help
trying to figure out what to do

I think I would start by disconnecting the battery for a while, then see what happens when it's reconnected try this get to the starter solenoid, connect a test lite between the small stud on the starter and ground, have someone turn the key to start if the lite lights the starter is bad, if no lit the problem is in the starter system and/or security system.
