Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello. My name is Brianna...I have a 2005 Mitsubishi
Eclipse spyder GS.....Recently my engine light came on
then my car started having trouble starting up. I got my
codes read and it came back as the crankshaft position
sensor. When I took the part off it was defiantly old and
cracked so I replaced my sensor but my car still wouldn't
start. I realized my battery was old and not holding a
charge anymore so I bought a new batter and now my
lights, locks, windows and so on work but my car still
won't start. It cranks just fine but just isn't catching...So I
read my codes again after replacing battery and
sensor...I'm still getting a code for my crankshaft position
sensor....Please help! Any suggestions on what to do? I
did test the (female) side of the crankshaft sensor, with a
multimeter. It seemed to be reading fine. I'm not sure on
how to test the part I replaced (crankshaft position sensor,
that is plugged into the bottom of my engine. What could
be the problem ? Is it possible for me to have put the
sensor on wrong?

Throwing parts at it is expensive. I would recommend getting a competent shop to look at it. This many times costs less than buying a bunch of unnecessary parts.
