No there is no recall. it depends on if its the gasket leaking or the intake its self. gaskets are inexpensive but the intake from the dealer is about 5 or 600 bucks aftermarket intakes are cheaper but i dont know how much

They all that on the 4.6 liter motor's no cheap way to fix it however if it's just a broken bolt you may have some luck with a good welder. If you plan to keep the car buy OEM parts if not just buy the cheap one's...

There is a recall but your car might have been fixed already. The neck where the radiator hose attaches to the manifold is prone to crack on these early models. The fix is a new manifold with a metal neck. At first, ford offered the recall on livery models only, then eventually all models. Your local dealer would have to check records to see if you already have the new manifold of still need the recall. I had this done on my "98" and later my "99".

BTW, this was an unadvertised recall so there might not be a service bulletin about it. Ford tried to keep this problem from the public for many years. Someone finally sued Ford to get them to change their mind. Your local dealer should know about it. My 98 wasn't a livery model and I ended up paying for the repair, A year later, when I found out Ford changed their mind I had to apply to the dealer for reimbursement. You have to keep an eye out on these dealers, I won't say they are sneaky, but they don't always go out of their way to service the public.

a service bulletin and a recall are two different things. There are no service bulletins on the issue ive checked and I'm gonna guess there is no recall. If it doesn't show up when you run a oasis report (the reason i need the vin number so i can do so) for that issue as either a recall or a bulletin it does not exist. If it is not listed anywhere as having been a recall or a bulletin at one time then it cannot be run under warranty and ford pay for it.

I am so disappointed with Lincoln I will never buy another one. Lincoln engineers put a lot of unnecessary crap on these cars. I bought a 07 Lincoln Town car in 2014 I've had nothing but problems out of it. When the first rain fell my back floor board was soaken wet shortly thereafter I noticed a leak on the intake manifold I have always driven lincolns,s and they were very reliable vehicles the engineers for Lincoln are putting unnecessary things on them so they can make money on parts. Never again will I buy a Lincoln

Ford Motor Company will extend the recall (01M02) on 4.6L V8 equipped vehicles with plastic intake manifolds. Some of the composite intake manifolds used on 4.6L SOHC engines may develop fatigue cracks at the coolant crossover duct. This condition could result in engine coolant leakage which, if not serviced, may cause engine overheating. Complete loss of coolant may result in engine damage or engine failure. The updated recall now includes: • Certain 1996 through 2001 Model Year Crown Victoria Police Interceptor • Certain 1998 through 2001 Model Year Crown Victoria with Taxi • Certain 1998 through 2001 Lincoln Town Car Limousine and Livery Prep Package • Certain 1996-2001 Crown Victoria Taxis, Police cars and Lincoln Town Car Limousine and Livery cars. • Certain 1996 through 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from the beginning of production for the 1996 Model Year through January 28, 1997. • Certain 1998 through 2001 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000. • Certain 1998 through 2001 Crown Victoria Taxi Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000. • Certain 1998 through 2001 Lincoln Town Car Limousine Prep Package and Livery Vehicles with 4.6L SOHC engines built at the Wixom Assembly Plant from November 22, 1997 through December 15, 2000. If an intake manifold coolant leak is detected, the dealer will replace the intake manifold. Owners of the affected cars are being notified that additional coverage for this specific condition is being provided. The coverage will be for 7 years from the warranty start date of the vehicle (no mileage limitation). This additional coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.
