Battery light flashing

Asked by Alex Jan 04, 2021 at 12:50 AM about the 1996 Lexus LS 400 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got a 1996 LS400, it originally died on the
previous owner and it now runs all this happened
after they installed a new alternator, and the battery
light is flashing on the dashboard, my guess is that
something with the connection to the alternator is
messed up but would like some feedback

how much research has been done on the battery type? Do you know if that is the proper battery for that make? The other thing, I would get rid of lead on lead battery clamps and switch to brass. I have brass ends on my cables because the traditional lead terminal was eating lead clamp. This doesn't happen with brass clamp ( $3 Pep Boys). Get a dmm and test if it makes you feel better. With car running, you are looking at 14.2 to .7, battery around 12.4 to.9.

Did they replace the battery at the same time as the alternator? I had a 96 LS490 also and it took a 24F battery.
