Truck keeps cranking while key is off?

Asked by Branden Aug 27, 2015 at 06:57 PM about the 1990 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay I replaced the solidnoid and starter
and the ignition switch and ignition lock.
When I start my truck the starter keeps
going even if I turn the key off. Only way to
stop is to disconnect the battery. Somtimes
it won't do it but if I go somewhere and turn
truck off and leave truck for while come
back and start it the starter keeps going.

Some ignition switches are adjustable. May need to be adjusted so that it will turn off when turned off.

I change the starting solenoid in my 1989 Ford ranger put the wires back exactly the same way they were the little red one on S start a riot self the positive cable with the fuse cables I put a new battery terminal connections on the wires and now when I try to start the truck it just continually turns over And wires got hot

The only thing different is the two little wires that were in a graded in the negative terminal are now stepped back and hall on the new terminal is that wrong
