Break light switch harness

Asked by Roxdafox Mar 06, 2020 at 03:00 PM about the 2003 Ford Explorer Limited V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 ford explorer 8 cylinder. 8
months ago. My break light would not go
off. I went to the junk yard and got a used
break light switch. It worked for about 3
months. Now its malfunctioning. My break
lights stayed on again while truck is in park
and engine is off.  I went to the ford
dealership. They gave me something that
looks totally different. They told me the
Assembly has to be rewired. Is there a
website i can go to that will teach me how to
do this?  My mechanics dont wanna touch it.
The dearship is going to make me pay big
time. Is this something i can do on my own.

I would repeat what you did before. As you already know, the switch is pretty easy to replace as you have already done one. They can be bought new for about $5-$10 at your local parts store. Forget the dealer's advice.
