can i switch from the 4.0 v6 to a 5.0 v8 motor

timing chains went out in the v6 and was wondering if it be to much of a fuss
to swap the motor from the v6 to a v8 or if i should just replace the v6

Well it would be more fuss to change to the V8, really depends on what your threshold of "too much" is. You'd have to keep the V8s trans and various modules, assuming the wiring harness can support those (or swap to the V8s engine harness), engine mounts, etc.

my next question would be with it being a v6 would i have to modify the driveshaft to fit. someone said id have to cut the the new driveshaft to fit and bult up to the v8

Modifying a drive shaft is not worth the time or trouble, just replace it with one for the V8. Cutting a drive shaft means having it balanced. You'll have to compare the V8 and V6 drive line to see what needs to be changed.

My son is attempting this swap and it is a reel hassle. Hoses, Steering, and a lot of other stuff must be changed.
