If you're asking for a "how to" on that, you're basically asking how to rebuild an engine. With few exceptions, you'll have to pull the motor, tear it down, check the block, rods, pistons, and crank for excessive wear and damage, then replace all bearings and gaskets. Engine rebuilds can range from "slap it back together" with a bearing/gasket rebuild kit, to full machining and blueprinting the motor for tolerances. Not a job for the faint-hearted or novice.

The best thing to do is pick up a engine repair manual for your specific vehicle, then follow that. If a rod bearing is bad, there is no "easy" way to replace it, other than an engine tear down and rebuild. Let an engine shop handle this, if the rod bearing(s) are bad you may even find replacing the engine with a reman unit a better option than rebuilding.

At the age of your vehicle it may not make economic sense to repair as a new engine is probably going to cost more than the car is worth.
