charging system

if the negative battery cable isn't grounded to the chassie will this cause the
battery not to be recharged the battery is ok i know it could be the alternator
just seeing if this could possible be it

It definitely is possible battery needs a good ground just like the positive needs a good connection but would not cause battery not to charge that would be alternator , fuse , or wiring problem.
