When was the last time you've changed the air filter? Set the timing?

I just recently bought the car at 42000 miles air filter is very dirty I'll change that soon. What is the cel?

Check Engine LIght

...actually don't know that you can adjust the timing on these, was going to suggest increase until knock, and back off a scoach to maximize MPG.
