Compatability

Asked by coondogsmedly Aug 08, 2018 at 05:06 PM about the 1993 Ford Explorer 2 Dr XL 4WD SUV

Question type: General

My 93 Ranger has a cracked block. I want to put an SOHC 4,0 from a 2006
explorer in. Will it bolt to my auto tranny and what besides computer and wiring
harness would I need (i.e. other smog accessories, retc)

You may have to take the tranny from the 06 with you. The 93 was a four speed and the 06 is a 5 speed. And if the wheel base length is longer or shorter, plan on drive shaft modifications. As for the engine, every sensor in the 06 must be taken.
