1994 Ford Ranger high idle right up until speed drops below 5 mph.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

High idle between shifts.
Will act like cruise control without touching gas.
High idle disappears below 5 mph.
All comments here so far do not work.
Except one reply about the "brain" that I assume is a microprocessor.
Any comment on that part?

Standard or automatic ? Try and find an electrical short with a multi meter or an obvious wiring flaw .
