Battery issue - 2023 Ford Escape Platinum Hybrid

Asked by I'm May 14, 2024 at 07:59 PM about the 2023 Ford Escape Platinum AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About six months ago, when I took my car to the dealer for its first oil change
and check up, I indicated that if I didn't drive the car for more than a day, I
couldn't unlock the front passenger door by touching the door sensor (in
handle) and the dome lights would not turn on when I opened the door, after
unlocking with the key fob or unlocking the driver’s door. The dealer
explained that the battery was down to about 46% of its charge and that this
was normal. I was told to drive the car every day. Didn't make sense to me.
The problem kept happening, so, a few weeks later, I took it back.
The battery was replaced and a software update was performed.

It fixed the problem for a while, but, it's happening again! I drove the car
yesterday and this morning, less than 20 hours after I turned the engine off, I
couldn't unlock the doors from the passenger side and the dome lights did
not turn on when I opened the driver's door.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a permanent solution?

Thank you.

Sounds like there is a higher than normal electrical draw. Take it back and keep on them about it, also document everything.
