what is around the idle air control valve that heat could damaged

I had a code p0174 and found out both of my catalytic converters was shot, sending exhaust smoke back into engine causing p0174 code, and idle air control valve melting and damaged. what is around the idle air control valve, that heat could damaged, besides manifold gaskets, throttle body gaskets

Some of the parts are made of plastic and they melt.
