Heating element in driver seat starting a fire.

Asked by Jennifer Jun 29, 2020 at 09:51 PM about the 2010 Lexus RX 350 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Lexus rx350 caught on fire
last Monday. It was caused by the
heating element in the driver seat,
which was burned beyond repair. The
fire caused extensive smoke damage
throughout the entire vehicle. The
headliner melted onto everything in the
vehicle. There is other damage also
caused by the fire. But what I really
want to know has anybody else
experienced this in their lexus? My
lexus had not been driver in 12 hours
and it was not on at the time of the fire.

Apparently the switch or relay stuck and left the seat heater on. Bummer.
