Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Ram Quad Cab 2wd. Currently at 48k miles. Was getting around 20mpg until the rearend shelled out. Had dealer replace rearend and now I only get about 16mpg on a good day. Could the shop have done something wrong?

its possible that they may have installed 4.10:1 gears in place of the stock 3.73:1 gears, im assuming your also running slightly higher RPMS at highway speeds as well?

yep thats exactly what happend then, the new axle they put in has 4.10:1 gearing instead of 3.73:1s its a better gear set if you tow/haul stuff, but if you liked your gas mileage alot i suppose you could go raise hell
