I am looking at used cars. In the listing summary there is a number given for the engine. What does that number tell me?

"4" or "I4" is an inline 4 cylinder. "V6" is a 6 cylinder. "V8" is an 8 cylinder. Some less common models may even have a 3 or 5 cylinder engine.
