Car smells like gas

Auto machanic says no leaks in gas line or tank.
What else could it be?

if you smell gas, there is a problem- did the mechanic smell it? do you smell it in the car? when you open the hood? this is a potentially dangerous problem- don't give up- get a second opinion

Sometimes when you smell fuel,and cant find leak,it may be the charcoil canister near fuel tank is bad,letting fuel vapor escape.
