have a 2002 SLK 230 Kompressor, the brake lights do not light up when I step on the brakes. The 3rd light (the brake light on the trunk) works fine and I checked the bulbs and they are still good. Tried to find the fuse in the fuse box but wasn't able to locate it there. Any suggestions?

Power is getting to the rear. The third brake light and the tail lights are usually tied together. Do the running lights work? If yes, you have a ground connection and you are missing power to the brake light bulbs. If the running lights do not work, you do not have a ground connection for the tail light bulbs. You can check both with a meter.
