I'm not 100% sure if they will or will not, but the Shelby GT 500 is a true enthusiast muscle car and traditionally muscle cars that are tailored for power and speed are matted with a manual transmission only!!!

The GT has plenty of power and is a mini rocket in my opinion ( I was running a Ford store when the new GT mustang came out ) the GT 500 would only be for the enthusiast, collector, or racer hence the manual transmission .. You will be extremely happy with the GT 5.0 . Not to mention the price difference between a loaded GT and a loaded Shelby GT 500 is around 12,000+ !

I heard there are plans to put an automatic in the Shelby GT500. They should. Many muscle cars had automatic transmissions. The 3-speed TorqueFlite in the 60's mopars shifted as fast as the manual, maybe faster. You could even get a mighty 426 Hemi with automatic. Today's 6 and 7 speed automatics make fine muscle car trannies..
