1500 to a 2500 transmission swap

Question type: General

Will a 96 1500 Silverado 4x4 trans work in a
94 2500 Silverado 4x4

It will fit with very little adjusting but it probably won't live very long. If you put it in your 2500, which is a strong 3/4 ton, and then ask it to do what your 3/4 ton could do all day it will not hold up. However, if you swap and then drive it like it's a 1500, or 1/2 ton, it should live a long and happy life. IMHO
