Did the 1962 chevy impala ss with a 409 ever come with a 3 speed on the floor

Thank you I have no issue with a car, just a wrench monkey that thinks he knows everything. I've been watching one locally with a four speed, he insisted it wasn't the original tranny even though the owner said it was. So I thought I would just throw the question out.
