20 wheels what struts for proper fitment and stroke?

Asked by GuruPR7J8 Jan 26, 2020 at 08:21 AM about the Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

purchased 2000 Grand Prix GT that has 20" aluminum wheels and struts
appear to be good on highway ride but appear to "bottom out" hard on pot
holes and speed bumps.

what is the proper strut to fit 20" wheels?  I find OEM for 16-18" and
aftermarket for 22 up?

Mark... maybe I didnt explain myself correctly or maybe I just dont understand. struts are made for 15, 16 and 18" wheels... and if you put 22-26 you will (I THINK) have a problem... I am not so concerned with how high the car sits.. with springs.. but when the car hits bumps, speed bumps or holes in the street.. I want the strut to give it immediate support. if the struts are too short.. made for 15 or 16" wheels.. and your running 22 and up.. I THINK your going to have a problem.. with the strut maxing out and not maxed out enough to assist the taller wheels. Please correct me if I am wrong... but otherwise not one would need to purchase struts for their over-sized wheels and tires... no? thank you
