2004 Ford Focus 2.3 l NO POWER TO "NEW" BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to find out how the power gets to the  brake light switch on my Focus.
Car had the "shifter stuck in park" problem recently - a screw driver was
used to bypass what ever causes this issue..started at tail lights and chased
the brake light wiring all the way up to the switch, checking for issues and
checking grounds - All was good, so the problem has to be between the
battery and brake light switch (mounted by brake pedal) ??  I am starting to
think a MANUAL for this model Focus DOES NOT EXIST.....Does anyone
have a wiring diagram or schematic.for this year?  Used info from a Chilton
AND a Haynes but was conflicting info between the two.   SInce the brake
light switch is ALWAYS HOT, could we run a NEW WIRE from the battery
directly to the switch to bypass the problem??

I don't have an answer for the brake light switch issue itself as it hasn't happened to any of the ten 2000-2004 Focuses I've had, but I do have an answer to the manual issue : https://wordery.com/ I get all my hard to find Haynes there and others too, shipping is included. (My 1986 Honda xl250r, 1978 280Z, an Aveo, and I'm about to order one for my Highlander) . Very good prices, decent packaging. I usually pay with PayPal, better protection. Good Luck.

Keep going , up under the dash board maybe . Like you said the brake lights are HAT ( hot at all times ) Along with the horn and headlights . Maybe the headlight switch , mice can invade even a daily driver .

There's already a wire going from batt. to switch it's just not connected . It's not like they make an entry point for you to run a wire through the firewall .
