What is limiting the Crosstour from towing 3k pounds? Hitch? Suspension? Transmission?

How can i augment my 2011 Crosstour to handle a larger hitch and a 3,000
pound trailer...gotta happen.

Could I simply install stiffer springs, air shocks and heavier hitch? I would be careful to drive in 3rd gear when I tow also...
