Failed radiator fan or more likely temp sensor on Y-reg Brava

The Haynes Manual is no help; is the rad fan controlled via the ECU? Where
can I locate the temp sensor, please? Y-reg 1,2 model, and how do I get to it?

The temperature sensor ( thermister) fitted to the top R/H end of the cyl. head (very difficult to see) feeds info. to the ECU which shuts the powerunit down to idle speed irrespective of throttle position when excessive temp. is detected; replacing the thermister ( £70 total at the local FIAT main dealer) resolved the issue.
